You Don’t Have to be Perfect

Perfectionism is the tendency to set unrealistically high standards for yourself. Very little in life, except perhaps nature itself, is perfect. Despite this, some of us keep aiming for this unattainable goal of perfection.

Striving to reach perfection in our challenges, goals, and projects leads to frustration, anxiety, and wear and tear on our minds and bodies. Additionally, projects are never started or are given up midway.

Bearing all this in mind, it is far more beneficial for you and for those around you not to treat yourself so unfairly. Insisting on perfection ultimately serves no good purpose so rather do your very best in a reasonable time, and then move onto your next project.

Please note that at the Academy Awards, Oscars are given out for excellence in each category, not for perfection. There is good reason for this!
